100 days before we start the great walk - 310 kms from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood's Bay in Yorkshire. 10 long days of walking commencing Tuesday 7th July. The Coast to Coast walk is a walk devised by Alfred Wainwright; taking you from the Irish Sea in the west to the North Sea in the east. We are going west to east like most folks in order to take advantage of the prevailing winds. The walk passes through three National Parks; Lakes District NP, Yorkshire Dales NP and North York Moors NP.
Walkers: Chris & Bill
Crew: Cate & Bronwyn
Fitness campaign is in full swing; undertaking some weekend hikes after Easter to add to the daytime walking we are both doing.
Crewing campaign: honing navigational skills and driving down narrow laneways.
Equipment is being assembled and YouTube videos are being perused.
We are hoping for good weather, we do not have any rest days planned and therefore need to walk on regardless. July is the middle of summer so what can it be, other than wonderful weather. Apart from that we need to cope with dodgy knees, hamstrings and backs, we can only hope that our bodies hold together.
Most people plan on 12 plus days; however, due to our wonderful ground crew we can travel light and be whisked away to our accommodation each evening.
