London was still warm at around 25 degrees, but a change was in the air. Picked up the hire vehicle on Sunday morning, and soon after it started to rain. 6 hours and four cornish pasties later we arrived in the Lakes District.
Found our accomodation in Portinscale, a cute little village about a 1 mile walk from Keswick. Bronwyn had been telling everyone about Kendall mint cake, a sugary treat made locally specifically for bush walkers. She spied some in the local store, so we all tried some Sunday night. Lets just say that it was similar to eating flavoured sugar.
Today (Monday) we do the tourist thing, tomorrow we start to walk.
The weather forecast is typical for this time of the year, rain and sunshine for each of the next few days.

Kendall Mint cake is at least like mint flavoured sugar. It is a bit sweet that's for sure. Hope the walkers are all geared up and going well.
